Our team has worked in the Structural Hardwood supply industry for Decades. Throughout this time we have faced a number of challenges. We found that many of the largest risk factors would be mitigated by a commitment to a healthy inventory. Today we are proud to hold the largest structural tropical hardwood inventory in the U.S. this helps us:
Buffer against Supply Chain Disruptions:
If we have learned anything uring the pandemic its that Supply chains are not immune to disruptions. Having sufficient material stock acts as a buffer against such disruptions, enabling us to buffer production delays that may occur in the manufacturing, and logistics associated getting our products into the hands of consumers.
Stabilizing Prices:
Our mission is to improve the adoption of Untreated Wood Products in the U.S. we believe a significant objective in accomplishing this involves providing stable pricing to the market. Material prices can fluctuate due to market conditions or geopolitical factors at origin. Having a strategic stockpile helps us mitigate sudden price hikes. We can use our reserves during periods of rising prices to slowly raise prices without shocking the market.
Flexibility in Production Scheduling:
Maintaining a substantial inventory allows us to work with our sawmills and suppliers to schedule production based on what is the most efficient use of resources. We can adjust production levels according to market demands, seasonal variations, or unexpected orders without being solely dependent on immediate material availability.
Our program is designed to minimize waste. In furtherance of that effort we opt to offer customers custom finishings of our Rough Sawn lumber stock rather than keeping an excessive number of items in stock.
We offer; finished tongue and groove marine tropicals for seawall applications; S4S and S2S finishing for special large timber applications; E4E and E2E for decking and millwork projects. With these offerings our stock can service is not limited to heavy industrial and under decking applications.
Our millwork program helps us:
Adapt to Changing Market Needs:
Our rough sawn stock can be molded into multiple products. By keeping them in their rough sawn form, we can quickly adapt to changing market demands or shifts in product focus. This flexibility allows us to adjust our product portfolio mix without significant disruptions.
Mitigate Supply Chain Disruptions:
As mentioned earlier, maintaining rough sawn stock acts as a buffer against supply chain disruptions. It provides a degree of independence from immediate supplier availability and allows us to continue production even when faced with temporary material shortages. This means we can supply material even when Global supply is delayed.
Reducing waste:
Maintaining our inventory of material in its least specific useful state allows us to service multiple markets with the same piece of material. We therefore require fewer independent products in stock. In reducing these additional products, we minimize the amount of waste that might occur from damage or aging inventories.
